The fact that there are over 7 Billion people on planet earth means that there is indeed a very large market for the t-shirt industry. For instance; if everybody in the world owned a t-shirt or more, then bottom line is that it could interpret as over21 billion t-shirt users. It is for this reason that if proper analysis is being done, then in the true sense of the word, t-shirt lines shouldn’t struggle to get consumers.

Coming to the issue of whether one should cater to the rich or poor; the mass market to a huge extent has to take care of a wide range of customers that cuts across both the rich and the poor. This is why to cut cost of production to the barest minimum is important to some brands; most t-shirt manufacturing companies in the United States of America now manufacture their clothes in Asia; this is because it is far cheaper when compared to manufacturing in the U.S.

Most of the new brands try as much as they can to produce designer imposters. What they do is this; they use the model or design of a top winning brand of t-shirt, and they replicate it. However, they may not be able to use an equally durable material as used by the real designer brands. Even at that, you can bet that there is a ready market for the purchase of these products.

Yet another reason why this type of lower standard t-shirts move is because of the cheaper rate at which they are being sold. This means that the cost of production wouldn’t be as expensive as that of the original t-shirt brands.

In other to achieve this in a highly competitive industry like the fashion industry, we must ensure that we critically look through our strength, our weaknesses, the opportunities available in the industry and the threats that we will are likely going to face.

  • Weakness:

A major weakness that may count against us is the fact that we are a new T – shirt design and sales company and we don’t have the financial capacity to compete with multi – billion dollars fashion label like Ralph Lauren, Polo by Ralph, Tommy Hilfiger, Hugo Boss, Gap, Lacoste, Nike, Levi Straus, Adidas, Diesel, Nautical, Puma, Prada and Rebel (Children’s T – shirts) et al when it comes to controlling the market or detecting the trend.

  • Opportunities:

One thing is certain, whether good or bad- people will always look for clothes to wear and on the average they go for T – shirts simply because it is cheap. Besides, the opportunity for clothing line to sell their clothes is massive and we hope to leverage on these opportunities to sell our T – shirts.

  • Threat:

Just like any other business, one of the major threats that we are likely going to face is economic downturn. It is a fact that economic downturn affects purchasing power. Another threat that may likely confront us is the arrival of a new T – shirts design and sales company in same location where our target market exist who may want to adopt same business model like us.
