1. Industry Overview

When we talk about tutoring, we are talking about a craft that is as old as man, from when man passed on the knowledge acquired from making fire, preserving cultures, to modern day classroom learning.

Tutoring can be informal (from parents to children) or formal (from an instructor to others) and can happen in any setting, the homes, offices, and schools. This is to say that even though schools might be considered the only place serious tutoring takes place, it isn’t the only place.

Aside from academics, there is skilled based tutoring- this is where an individual or a group is tutored on skills such as dance, singing, and sports and so on. This guide will focus on school-based tutoring on how to become a successful Disc Jockey – a DJ.

Earlier, the myth had been that only slow learners needed tutoring, but this isn’t true as even bright students still get tutoring that is aimed at helping them acquire new skills or helm them further improve on what they know, thereby brightening their grades more.

Basically, a disc jockey which is popularly called a DJ is a person who mixes recorded music in real time from any sources, including cassettes, CDs, or digital audio files on a digital media player or laptop. Disc Jockeys often perform for a live audience at a club or other venue or for a broadcast audience.

So also, DJs create mixes that are recorded for later sale and distribution and for playback during DJ sets. Disc Jockeys make use of musical equipment that can play at least two sources of recorded music simultaneously and mix them together using an electronic gadget known as DJ mixer machine.

There is a large market for DJs because it is a known fact that Disc Jockeys are a well- accepted component of the entertainment industry. They are known to provide background music at, night clubs, bars, and parties and even in corporate events.

In most cases at special occasions like weddings or in clubs, Disc Jockeys are often the focus of the event entertainment and if they perform below expectation it will definitely affect the overall rating of the event.

The demand for the services of disc jockeys is on the increase in recent time, as growth in household formation rates expanded the available clientele base for industry players and rising per capita disposable income. As the economy improved and small-business lending increased, the number of operators in this industry experienced steady increase.

As a result of this, the competition in the industry is extremely high, leading profit to only improve marginally over the period, despite noticeably improved economic conditions.

So if you are looking towards making money as a Disc Jockey, you should first consider attending a DJ school where you will learn all the rudiments of how to become a successful Disk Jockey. Although you can informally acquire the skills to become a DJ, but it will pay you to enroll in a standard Disc Jockey school around; it is just the best way to start a successful career as a DJ in the entertainment industry.

Despite the fact that the DJ school is just gaining momentum, it is still a profitable venture to launch especially if you take your time to conduct a thorough feasibility studies and market survey before choosing a location to launch the business. Besides, you need to be deliberate about marketing your DJ school because in most cities, it is not a popular venture.
